CARIAA Project (Communication Tools)

The CARIAA program, connecting over 450 researchers and 40 institutions across 17 countries, is one of the world’s largest climate adaptation research initiatives. It focused on understanding the impacts of climate change in vulnerable hotspot regions, such as deltas, glacier-dependent basins, and semi-arid lands. To effectively share their findings on migration, resilience, and climate change, CARIAA needed innovative communication tools to reach policymakers, practitioners, and the public.

Leading my team, we developed three distinct tools to translate CARIAA’s complex research into accessible formats. First, we created an infographic summarizing migration trends, highlighting the roles of gender, education, and environmental change. Second, we produced a trailer video introducing CARIAA’s mission and unifying its four research consortia under a cohesive identity for the first time. Finally, we designed a series of postcards visualizing the impacts of 1.5°C warming, contrasting present-day and future climate scenarios in hotspot regions. These postcards were used at climate events and adapted for social media campaigns, amplifying the reach and impact of CARIAA’s work.

Together, these tools bridged the gap between scientific findings and actionable communication, equipping stakeholders with clear and engaging resources to inform policy and practice.
